I purchased a 4 Star room in NYC for a steal at $200, yes 4 star room! I was excited to get such a nice property for such a reasonable rate. When I was confirmed into the Holiday Inn I thought it must have been a mistake. On Hotwire, the give examples of a 4 star as a Westin and a Hyatt. They have Holiday Inn listed as a 3 star example. As a consumer, I have never experienced such poor customer services and am beyond frustrated with the situation Hotwire has put me in. Booked a "2 star" unnamed hotel via Hotwire, which turned out to be an extended stay hotel filled with derelicts. The email from hotwire said that the front desk at the hotel closed at 11pm. I arrived at the hotel around 10pm to discover that the sign outside said that the desk closed at 7pm (!). Used to have good deals with them. I think something has changed recently. For instance, you get a $20 rebate but no breakfast. With a regular site you have the hotwire price + $20 but with breakfast included for two. You end up paying more without the choice of the hotel. Second example, supposed to get a 5* hotel($300) a night, end up with a B&B with no air conditioning. Would never have wanted a B&B but was advertised as 5* hotel. Don't try... Read more

I book a trip a year ago. My flight was delayed and missed my connection and re-routed to new city. Called Hotwire to change my rental car. I couldn't use the money I already spend toward the new reservation and had to book a completely new reservation. I got a "credit" to use on what I was told any online car or hotel for future travel. Tried to rent a car from Hotwire.com after going through checkout I get my itinerary in my email. Has the wrong car rental company from the wrong location at the wrong time I previously rented. Called rental company and cancelled. Second time around had the right rental company from the correct location but still had it at the wrong time. Tried to cancel through Hotwire Dept. I am livid. I live in Canada. I was looking at Hotwire rates for hotels in Montreal, Canada. The Hotwire rate were posted as $84, $102, $101...nothing to indicate that the $ were not Canadian. Only as the booking was going through did the website show that the fare was in US dollars. Oh la la. I tried to hit cancel as the transaction was being processed but it was too late. I booked a car rental online through Hotwire. Total price prepaid $75 for 5 days in Cancun, with insurance. Vendor Europcar. When I got there Europcar said that insurance company DOES NOT provide service in Mexico and I had to buy another onsite and for over 200 dollars. It has been impossible to get in touch with Hotwire. I haven't been able to reach their numbers and they don't provide email.

I am currently in between apartments so I have been hotel hoping while my new apt is being prepared for move in. I booked the hotel using Hoteire and requested to cancel 3 days earlier and they wouldn't refund my money. How can they run business like this? I'm so pissed. Will never use Hoteire again.
